KTEP

KTEP is an acronym for Knowledge Team Effectiveness Profile that serves as a diagnostic, assessment and discussion tool to guide managers in developing optimal team performance. Cross-functional teams often produce fuzzy team dynamics; KTEP documents and provides impressively clear performance feedback, regardless of the team's performance level.

KTEP's comprehensive team performance measurement system works in five parts:
  1. Scientific Model - Underlying KTEP is a scientific model of knowledge team effectiveness. Developed and tested using one of the world's largest databases of knowledge team dynamics, the model reveals factors that are critical to team success, the relative importance of the factors, and the relationship between them.
  2. Diagnostic Questionnaire on the Web - The input to the KTEP process is a simple 51-item questionnaire that assesses team members' perceptions of the team. Each team member receives a unique ID and password, and confidentially completes the questionnaire on the Web. Powerful tools allow the KTEP administrator (consultant, manager or team leader) to track the progress of survey completion without compromising confidentiality.
  3. Profile of Your Team's Performance - After survey completion, the client receives a report to show how well the team is performing. The report indicates the team's rating on 17 performance indicators and compares the team's results with those of the most and least effective teams in the KTEP database. The client also receives confidential, individual reports for each team member which show how their assessment compares with that of the overall team.
  4. Guide to Priority Areas for Action - Based on the team's results, the report will suggest priorities for action to achieve the greatest performance impact. This guide points to factors where the team is under performing and where improvement is likely to have the most significant impact on other related factors. From this, it will be evident where to focus your team development efforts to achieve the greatest returns.
  5. Framework for Team Learning - In addition to giving a clear picture of what development areas need attention, the KTEP report suggests specific, easily applied processes and techniques for improving the performance of the team. It also provides a framework for ongoing team learning and action planning. You will note this diagnostic and assessment is in no way limited to teams working in the supply chain but applies to teams universally across the enterprise. It applies to vertical teams inside a single organization or cross-functional, cross-boundary, and/or other inter-organizational teams.
